About Ray Major
As the former Chief Economist and Chief deputy CEO for SANDAG, Ray Major led the Office of Data Science and Analytics where he oversaw SANDAG’s economic and demographic forecast, and the agencies data and analytic strategy. He was responsible for agency-wide utilization of empirical information as a regional asset. Ray supported many regionally significant initiatives including Regional Transportation plan, the relocation of the LOSSAN train tracks in Del Mar, and the new 3rd border crossing at Otay Mesa East. Ray has served on the Board of Directors for 3 economic development corporations, is a fellow at UCSD Data Science Institute (HDSI) and is a regular contributor to the San Diego Unions’ Econometer.
